Behind The Obvious

We go about our daily routines in a sort of trance, not paying attention to the mundane, the usual, and the boring. The “already seen” are not worth a second glance or the energy to re-evaluate. They are categorized in our minds and not worth our attention.

While the mundane aspects of daily life may seem ordinary, they could hold the seed for an unintended universe, patiently waiting to be discovered.

A forgotten corner, a dry mud pattern, and a deserted field, each retains the history of a past life, a long-ago heartbeat that once thrived.

Black and white photography is well suited to capture this universe. It strips away the story down to its essence; allowing shape, texture, light and shadow to be the vocabulary of composition. Through this subjective view, the overlooked may become more meaningful and profound.

These scenes do not shout for attention. They are humble and genuine; they whisper for your attention. Those fortunate enough to hear their quiet call can slow down and connect with their inherent beauty.

This small collection is not about grand announcements or spectacle; it is a quiet invitation to look again at something we have already seen. It is a gentle nudge to question the automatic assumptions we have made about them.

Emotional connections are not only found in the obvious grand vistas; they are also found behind the obvious, in the quiet, humble, and unseen compositions of everyday life that whisper to us as we pass by.
