Philosophy
I approach photography as an art form. This may sound obvious to some but I emphasize this aspect to differentiate myself from photojournalistic or photo documentary styles where the goal is to capture the reality of the moment and present a factual rendition of a scene.
With the creation of each print, my objective is to capture the mood of the moment and present an emotional rendition of a scene. Therefore I process my RAW files (the negatives) to reflect my vision. If I am able, through my photos, to evoke an emotional response from the viewer then I have succeeded in my efforts. My motivation for photography stems from my need to create. Simply stated, photography fulfills my creative needs and allows me to show my audience my vision.
"The negative is the equivalent of the composer's score, and the print the performance." Ansel Adams
